Dr. Guirola will give an overview of what the general practitioner needs to know regarding sports medicine from a rheumatologist’s perspective.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Recognize the importance of a musculoskeletal examination.
  2. Outline the goals of a sports physical.
  3. Identify the role of the team physician.
  4. Explain how common cardiac conditions can contribute to sudden cardiac arrest.
  5. Describe how to evaluate a child with a possible concussion, including signs and symptoms.
  6. Discuss early sport specialization.
  7. Recognize the importance of injury prevention and biomechanics.
