Join us for this first-ever summit on cancer rehabilitation and
survivorship. This year’s meeting will explore the evolving strategies and treatment in breast cancer – with a focus on the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, pain and other challenges of the disease – and will provide health care professionals with the knowledge and insight to improve their patients’ function and quality of life.
Physicians, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Nurses and other healthcare providers who are involved in the rehabilitation of Cancer Survivors
- Define the expanding role of comprehensive rehabilitation services in the care of cancer survivors
- Identify recent advances in the diagnosis, selected treatments, and rehabilitation of cancer survivors
- Communicate new research and clinical treatment approaches to clinicians working with or who would like to work with cancer survivors
- Recognize barriers to safe, compassionate, and effective rehabilitation of cancer survivors at all stages from initial diagnosis to palliative care
Cancer survivors often face function-limiting complications stemming from cancer or its treatments including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. This symposium will discuss selected cancer treatments that impact rehabilitation and provide the practical assessment and treatment strategies/skills that can be applied to clinical practice. This symposium aims to provide healthcare professionals with new and enhanced understanding that can be implemented in the evaluation and management of cancer and treatment-related impairments, ultimately ensuring the safe and effective restoration of the cancer survivor’s function and quality of life.
Continuing education hours will be offered for physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists. Continuing Education hours will also be offered for physical therapists in select states, pending state approval.
The Summit will take place at the Ritz Carlton - Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia.
