MC100T3 Media Composer Fundamentals Train-the-Trainer

This workshop is designed specifically for academic instructors.   Based on the MC101 and MC110 courses designed for end-user certification, this workshop will educate attendees in the core skills, workflows, and concepts involved in professional nonlinear editing on Avid Media Composer systems. In addition, attendees will also be exposed to the design and use of the course materials, and participate in discussions relating to teaching Avid in the classroom.

At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to take the Avid Media Composer Certified User exam. Successful completion of this course will certify you as an Avid Certified Instructor (ACI).  This also serves as your first step in establishing your school as an Avid Learning Partner (ALP).

Media educators planning to teach Avid Media Composer as part of their academic program

  •   Be a full- or part-time faculty at a high school, technical career school or university teaching video editing or post-production
  •   Experience with non-linear video editing (NLEs) is required, Media Composer experience strongly recommended
  •   Familiarity with Macintosh or Windows operating system is required
  •   A background in editing, production, or post-production is preferred

At the end of this course, you will be able to:
  •  Capture media and prepare for editing
  •  Organize source material in bins
  •  Use basic editing techniques
  •  Trim video and audio
  •  Customize the system
  •  Mix audio levels and apply basic audio effects
  •  Create and add titles and transitions
  •  Fix common image problems using video effects
  •  Create multilayered and nested effects
  •  Use automatic color correction
  •  Create titles using the Avid Title Tool and Avid Marquee
  •  Create motion effects
  •  Manage projects and media
  •  Output a completed program

Parking at 101 S. First Street:
Enter the driveway on First Street between 101 S. First Street and BJ’s Restaurant.  Make an immediate right into the first driveway under the building, and then another immediate right.  You may park in any Avid-marked space.  If all the spaces are full, there is a second level, the ramp is left of the Avid parking area, you may go up the ramp and park in any unreserved space.  There is a parking attendant on duty from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, should you require assistance.
