Mercy - Springfield Medical Explorer Post #339 is a youth healthcare career exploration program jointly sponsored by Mercy Hospital Springfield and the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life program. The overall purpose of Medical Explorers is to provide worksite-based experiences for young men and women ages 15 through 20. Education through observation enables youth to make an informed career decision.
Information about the Mercy Medical Explorer program and enrollment process will be shared on
September 10, 2019 at 6:30-8:00 p.m. at
Hammons Heart Institute Auditorium at the end of the regular monthly business meeting. Medical Explorer candidates and parents are encouraged to attend this meeting for a program overview and to answer any questions about becoming a Mercy Medical Explorer.
Explorer candidates applying for the Fall 2019 session
must attend the mandatory orientation on
September 24, 2019 at 5:00-7:30 p.m. at Mercy Hospital Springfield in the
Catherine McAuley Conference Center (located in the Main Hospital; South Entrance; first hallway to the right). Candidates must bring completed printed copies of the
Mercy Medical Explorer Application AND the
Learning for Life Youth Application to orientation. Yearly dues must be paid prior to orientation using this online registration site. Registration fees may be paid online by credit/debit card only. We are unable to accept cash or check payments.

All application requirements including payment of annual dues must be completed before the Medical Explorer candidate may attend the monthly business meeting on
October 8, 2019 at 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Hammons Heart Institute Auditorium and sign up for independent clinical rotations.
