Program Summary:
This introductory course provided a framework for effective management of stroke patients in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting. Online learning formats provided participants the opportunity to explore the medical, psychosocial and functional impact of stroke as well as offer strategies and interventions to maximize functional outcomes and patient safety.


Overall Objectives:
1. Describe the pathophysiology of stroke
2. Identify common medical complications and their managment post stroke

3. Define the role of pharmacology in stroke rehabilitation
4. Explain the neurocognitive and neurobehavioral sequelae followig stroke
5. Describe the psychosocial and funcational impact of stroke
6. Recall nursing and therapy interventions utilized for stroke patients to promote recovery and safety

Accredited status does not imply endorsement by the Inpatient Rehabilitation Division or ANCC of any commercial products or services.

SLP:

   This course is offered for 0.30 ASHA CEUs (Introductory level, Professional Area)


Requirements for Successful Completion:
Successful completion requires that the learner view all 6 courses of the curriculum.  The learner must complete all assocaited quizzes, receive a minimum score of 80% and complete the curriculum evaluation.  Upon successful completion of this activity, the learner will be awarded 6.5 contact hours for RN's and 6.0 contact hours for PT/OT.  No partial credits will be awarded for this activity.
  1. Successful completion of all 6 modules of the curriculum.
  2. Successful completion of all curriculum quizzes and receive a minimum score of 80% on the curriculum post-test.
  3. The learner must complete the curriculum evaluation.
  4. *The learner must download and complete the ASHA CEU Participant form.
  5. **The learner must submit the completed ASHA CEU Participant form via email to or via fax within 10 days of course completion.*

**Applies only to SLP learners that require ASHA CEUs.

**ASHA CEU Participant forms  (as mentioned above) not received within the stated timeframe (within 10 days of course completion) will not be issued a certificate by the Inpatient Rehabilitation Division of Select Medical. The learner will be required to file a Participant Appeal directly with ASHA.
