Positive Solutions for Families
Is an evidence-based, positive parenting curriculum for parents and caregivers of children birth-6 that is offered to help learn new ways of understanding problem behaviors and ways to encourage appropriate behavior in their children.  Parents and caregivers attending will learn how to use positive approaches to improve their interactions with their child/ren; help their child/ren learn appropriate behaviors; and to build their child's confidence and self-esteem. Thereby, preparing children for successful early learning experiences!  If you are enrolled with UWO-Head Start, Oshkosh Boys and Girls Club, or a Parent Connection Home Visiting Program, register for free with your child’s teacher/leader/home visitor (not here online).

This workshop:
  • is evidence-based for parents of children birth to age 6, but best fitting for parents and caregivers of young children ages 2-6 to prepare them for successful early learning;
  • meets for four consecutive weeks, so plan to attend all four classes;
  • when in-person, provides printed materials to those individually registered for the parenting group. (If registering a second adult as a guest, you will both share printed materials.);
  • when in-person and allowable by safety protocols, provides an adult learning group, kids activity groups, and on-site childcare; and
  • when in-person and allowable by safety protocols, programming will follow an optional free group meal served from 5:30 - 6:00 pm, participants must be registered and attending the class to attend the meal.
Please be aware that COVID-19 safety protocols must be followed during any of our in-person workshops.  You and anyone attending must follow the specific location and host protocols which could change based upon Health and Safety Guidelines needed at the time of the workshop.  For this in-person workshop, protocols currently include: pre-screening for symptoms and exposure, use of hand washing or hand sanitizer upon building entry, masking of all vaccinated and unvaccinated ages 2 and up, adults physical distancing from other family groups, and restrictions on how and what food/beverages may be served/consumed.  If public gathering restrictions are put back into place during the run of this class it could be canceled or we would only be able to provide an online adult/parent class.

For now, all planned in-person groups (adult group, kids activity group, and childcare) are open until their registration deadlines or until their max enrollment is reached!  You will be notified later if your pre-registeration of children for the Kids Activity Groups or onsite Childcare cannot be met.  Our online registration will prompt you to pre-register any other adult parent coming (and not individually registered) as a guest by providing their name, phone number and email address.  You will also be prompted to pre-register the number of children and their ages you want enrolled in the Kids Activity Groups or on-site Childcare. Please also indicate in the comments if your pre-registered family members plan to participate in any or all of the group meals (when offered).

Scholarships can be available to waive the class fee.  If requesting a scholarship for this workshop, do not register online.  Contact Jeni Rettler with Parent Connection-Oshkosh at 920-642-0042.
