Event Description: This workshop will highlight best practices for excellent oral presentations of scientific material. This workshop is designed to be useful for graduate students at all stages, with tips for both the experienced speaker as well as those uncomfortable with public speaking.

At the end of this session, you will be able to:
• Design a better talk— how to find your scientific narrative
• Empathize with your audience
• Implement effective slide design principles to present your data clearly
• Effectively answer questions from your audience

About the Presenter:
Lauren Popov is a PhD candidate in Microbiology & Immunology at Stanford School of Medicine and an Oral
Communications Tutor at the Stanford Hume Center for Writing & Speaking. She has coached hundreds of graduate students and postdocs
to improve design and delivery of technical presentations for academic audiences.
