Pro Tools Fundamentals (Train-the-Trainer)

Overview:
This workshop is designed specifically for academic instructors.   Based on the Pro Tools 101 and 110 courses, this workshop will educate attendees in the course content and core skills, workflows, and concepts involved in audio production on Avid Pro Tools systems. In addition, attendees will also be exposed to the design and use of the course materials, and participate in discussions relating to teaching Pro Tools in the classroom.

This class is presented in an accelerated, 3-day format, and requires instructor candidates to be very familiar with the use of Pro Tools and a basic familiarity of the Pro Tools 101 and Pro Tools 110 courses.  

Attendees will receive electronic course materials and access to Lynda.com two weeks before the start of class to provide time for review. Completion of the Pro Tools Essentials 101 and Pro Tools Essentials 110 courses on Lynda.com/LinkedIn Learning is also strongly recommended.  

During and/or following this workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to take online exams for Pro Tools 100-level certification, as well as the Avid Certified Instructor (ACI) credential.

Audience:
Media educators planning to teach Pro Tools as part of their academic program

Prerequisites:
  • Familiarity with Avid Pro Tools
  • Familiarity with Macintosh or Windows operating system is required
  • A background in editing, music or post-production is preferred
Objectives:
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • Configure your studio and session
  • Import media into your session
  • Manage session data and media files
  • Record MIDI and audio, using loop recording and advanced techniques
  • Work with time scales and virtual instruments
  • Work with Avid Elastic Audio
  • Edit and quantize MIDI and audio
  • Use audio editing and file management techniques
  • Apply basic and mixed editing techniques such as the use of Region Looping
  • Enable, play, view, and edit automation data
  • Mix using sends, returns, plug-ins, Master Faders, and groups
  • Complete a music hands-on project
  • Complete a post hands-on project
