Mental Health Providers as Agents of Change

In this nonpartisan, interactive online course, participants will review ethical principles related to client self-determination, advocacy for client rights, and social justice for mental health providers. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and explore their roles as advocates and agents of change on multiple levels, and identify connections between individual client challenges and systemic social problems. Participants will review the basic tenants of the New York State and Federal legislative process and explore opportunities to act as agents of change at the agency, community, state, and federal levels. Finally, participants will explore strategies for building client self-advocacy skills and connecting clients to opportunities for civic engagement.

The fee for this course is $40 which includes 3 continuing education hours.
