Overview
Want to learn how to ace your industry interviews?
This hands-on workshop will teach you what you need to know to rock your industry job interviews! You’ll learn how to prepare for an interview, understand interviewing strategy, and respond to behavioral questions. You’ll also learn what employers look for and how to target your answers. Most important, you’ll get to practice interviewing and leave feeling confident about your skills.
This workshop is for trainees who plan to interview for industry positions in 2017.
5:00pm-5:30pm: Interview tips, preparation, and strategy (lecture)
5:30pm-7:00pm: Small-group interview practice
"Tell me about yourself."
"Why are you a good candidate?/Why should we hire you?"
"Tell me about a time you had a disagreement with your PI."
"Why do you want this position?"
Pre-Work
Please bring to the workshop:
- A job description for a position that interests you.
- Three reasons why you are interested in this position and two reasons why you want to work for this organization.
