Grandkids on Board: Car Seat Safety for Grandparents with Birth Detroit

Monday, April 20, 2026 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Grandparents & Car Seat Safety
Caring for a grandchild today can look very different than it did years ago—especially when it comes to car seats. Join us for a hands‑on car seat safety education class designed specifically for grandparents and caregivers who want to keep their little ones safe while traveling.

During this interactive session, certified child passenger safety educators will review current car seat laws and best‑practice recommendations, explain how car seats have changed over time, and demonstrate proper installation and use. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance in a small‑group setting.

What you’ll learn:

  • Updates to car seat safety guidelines and laws
  • Differences between rear‑facing, forward‑facing, and booster seats
  • How to correctly install and use a car seat
  • Common car seat mistakes and how to avoid them
  • Tips for safely transporting infants, toddlers, and young children

This class is free and registration is required, as space is limited to ensure personalized support. Whether you transport your grandchild regularly or just occasionally, this class will help you feel confident and informed.

We look forward to learning with you and supporting the important role you play in your grandchild’s life!
