NC Countdown to College 2019

North Carolina’s annual campaign, NC Countdown to College (C2C), to support college access will be held during the month of October this year.  Activities during the month support high school seniors in completing three important college enrollment steps: residency, FAFSA, and applications.  College Application Week will run October 21st – 25th when volunteers at hundreds of NC high schools help students submit online applications for admission, and some colleges offer application fee waiver opportunities.

While much of the focus of NC Countdown to College is geared toward first-generation college students and students who may not otherwise apply to college, we encourage participating high schools to include activities for all students, including freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have already applied to college.  The general break-down of the month can be found below.

During the NC Countdown to College initiative, students are encouraged to apply to at least one college using CFNC.org. This initiative is made possible because of CFNC.org, the comprehensive statewide college access portal with applications accepted by many North Carolina colleges and universities.

To participate in NC Countdown to College 2019 your school must register at CFNC.org and:

• Identify a site coordinator who will be responsible for planning and implementing the event at your school.
• Invite all seniors at your school to participate, but focus your efforts on first-generation students and students who may not otherwise apply to college.
• Make efforts to recruit volunteers such as parents and college representatives to assist the site coordinator and students during the event.

Benefits to registering include:1). Access to marketing materials and give-aways to promote the event; 2). Access to support services from the UNC System Office to support your event;  3).
